Disneyland Paris by Lucy Fellows

Lucy with PlutoDisneyland Paris is a fantastic, fun place to visit, but for my family, was a nightmare food-wise.

We chose to travel to France in our own car and used Eurotunnel, which was very quick and easy, and is good if you suffer from sea sickness!

It is a lot more difficult for veggies here than in Disneyland USA (which wasn't easy either!). In Disneyland Paris the food was very expensive, and finding any reasonably priced “proper” vegetarian food in the parks was almost impossible. Be prepared to live on French fries and ketchup! Our best meal in the parks was salad and fries!

We stayed in Sequoia Lodge, a Disney resort hotel, which was lovely and even has its own fun pool with water slides and jacuzzi, but our food problems continued there. The restaurant looked nice, but did not offer much veggie food, and it was very expensive for the evening meal. We ended up paying over £40.00 for three sandwiches, two beers and a glass of lemonade in the bar! My tip is to load up on breakfast, which is a big buffet, there is lots of fruit and yummy pastries, and then be prepared to eat salad for lunch. When staying in a Disney Resort hotel, you have no easy access to non-Disney food or supermarkets, so your food choices are a bit limited!

Food aside, the rest of the holiday was great, my favourite rides were the Rock 'n’ Roller Coaster, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Space Mountain 2 and Crush's Coaster. These are the most thrilling rides in my opinion, and watch out for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror “Hotel Staff”; they are really creepy!

My top tip is to use the Fastpass system to cut waiting times, but remember that not all rides use this, so you may have to queue up for a long time for some, particularly Crush's Coaster, which is a shame as it is suitable for younger riders, but is still quite exciting!

Overall the holiday was great fun and you can get around any food problems by being prepared. Don't let the lack of veggie food stop you having a great time!

Make sure you avoid:

Jambon (ham), poulet (chicken) and croque monsieur (this looks like cheese on toast but hides a terrible secret - ham!).
