Healthy Eating posters

The Vegetarian Society currently has two posters, both of which illustrate information on healthy eating. The first is The Balance of Good health, the second is a Food Comparisons Poster (pictured left). Both can be used as a teaching aid or just to brighten up your classroom/youth group wall. You can order both through our online order form or download a pdf below:

Balance of Good Health
Food Comparisons

Silent but Deadly poster

This poster highlights the fact that farmed animals produce more greenhouse gas emissions (18%) than the world’s entire transport system (13.5%)

Butcher's cat poster

This poster poses the question; why do we make pets out of some animals and mincemeat out of others?

Quick Lesson Ideas

Vegetarianism is a subject that can be explored in any subject area! The Vegetarian Society’s Quick Lesson Ideas, with accompanying Quick Vegetarian Facts, offer teachers a variety of ideas and background information for studying vegetarianism across the curriculum. Food Comparisons postcards

This set of three cards illustrate the comparative protein, iron and vitamin B12 values of everyday foods. They are based on our popular Food Comparisons poster.

Fishconceptions cards

These cards are perfect for giving out to anyone who thinks that vegetarians eat fish!

Say Cheese cards

Sometimes you might find dishes and products claiming to be vegetarian that include Parmesan cheese. Unfortunately Parmesan has to be made using calf rennet and is definitely not suitable for vegetarians. These cards are designed to be handed out to catering businesses, shops and restaurants.

School Speaker Service

The Vegetarian Society maintains a register of volunteer speakers who are willing to give talks about vegetarianism (and sometimes cookery demonstrations if you're really lucky!) in schools.

A Nation Of Animal Lovers?

It is often claimed that the UK is a nation of animal lovers but we still treat pets very differently to farmed animals. This leaflet compares the lifestyles of dogs, pigs, cats and chickens.

All of the images and information from the Food Comparisons poster are available as presentations in powerpoint and pdf. The Balance of Good Health poster has also been converted into a powerpoint and pdf. Click here to request a pdf presentation by e-mail.

Pdfs of short quizzes based on the Healthy Balance and Food Comparisons posters are also available.

And whilst you're here... we've also made a short pdf to illustrate vegetarian versions of traditionally meat-based meals.
